CFUW Stratford Scholarship Awards

1. Name of Award: “Leaders Among Us” CFUW Stratford Award    Amount of Award: $500                                                       Selection: The recipient will be a female student with an Ontario Secondary School diploma who will be enrolled in a recognized Canadian university, college or apprenticeship immediately following Secondary School.                                                                    Selection Criteria: The student will have made a meaningful contribution to the culture of her school, and local or global communities. She is a leader who shows initiative, ingenuity and motivates others to embrace new challenges and issues. She will be a student who takes thoughtful risks, persists in problem solving, embraces collaboration and works through the critical and creative processes as outlined in the Global Competency Framework.                                                                                                                                          Selection Procedure: The winner of this award will be determined by the Principal and Staff of the Secondary school who will provide the name to the Chair of the Awards Committee.                                                                                                                                  

2. Name of Award: The CFUW Merit Award  Amount of Award: $400                                                                                            Selection: The recipient will have shown great improvement but has not necessarily received the highest marks. The award is to be given to a female student who would not normally be given a scholarship. Financial need may be a consideration.                      Selection Criteria: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School diploma. She must be enrolled at a recognized post secondary institution or apprenticeship immediately following Secondary School.                                                    Selection Procedure: The winner of the award will be determined by the Awards Committee of the Secondary School.              

3. Name of Award: CFUW French Immersion Award  Amount of Award: $400                                                                             

Selection: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. She will be enrolled at a recognized Canadian university, or college immediately following Secondary School.                                                                                              Selection Criteria: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. She will be enrolled at a recognized Canadian university, or college immediately following Secondary School.                                                                          Selection Procedure: The winner of this award will be determined by the Head of the French Department who will provide the name to the Chair of the Awards Committee.                                                                                                                                           

4. Name of Award: The CFUW Award for the Arts Amount of the Award: $400

Selection: The recipient will be the female student with the highest marks in any two Grade 12 courses from the Ontario Arts Curriculum: Dance, Drama, Media Arts, Visual Arts, Music. At least one of the courses must be taken in the final year of secondary school.                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Selection Criteria: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. She will be enrolled at a recognized Canadian university, or college immediately following Secondary School.                                                                        Selection Procedure: The winner of this award will be determined by the Head of the Arts Department who will provide the name to the Chair of the Awards Committee.                                                                                                                                                        

5.  Name of Award: The CFUW STEM Award – Math and Science  Amount of Award: $400

Selection: The recipient will be the female student with the highest average in three Grade 12 Math and Science courses. The winner must be continuing her post-secondary education in the academic year immediately following the completion of secondary school.    Selection Criteria: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. She will be enrolled at a recognized Canadian university.                                                                                                                                                                     Selection Procedure: The winner of this award will be determined by the Math and Science Department Heads who will provide the name to the Chair of the Awards Committee.                                                                                                                                          

6. Name of Award: Name of Award: The CFUW STEM Award – Technological Studies Amount of Award: $400

Selection: The recipient will be the female student with the highest average in three courses from the Ontario Technology Curriculum. At least one of the courses must be taken in the final year of secondary school.                                                                                  Selection Criteria: The recipient will be a female student who has an Ontario Secondary School Diploma. She will be enrolled at a recognized Canadian university, college, or apprenticeship  immediately following secondary school.                                                  Selection Procedure: The winner of this award will be determined by the Head of the Technological Studies Department who will provide the name to the Chair of the Awards Committee.                                                                                                                    

7. Name of Award: CFUW Mature Student Award Amount of Award $400

Selection: This award will be given to a female who has completed a high school equivalency program at the Community College level.                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Selection Criteria: The female recipient is a resident of Perth County, has completed the high school equivalency program and is enrolled in a Canadian post secondary institution or apprenticeship.                                                                                                      Selection Procedure: Selection will be made by the staff of Conestoga College, in consultation with the CFUW-Stratford Scholarship Fund Committee.                                                                                                                                                                                        

Donations are always welcome. Tax receipts will be issued for donations of $20 or more. Donations can be made by e-transfer at scholarshipfundcfuwstratford@gmail.com.

The recipients of our high school scholarships attend either Stratford District Secondary School (SDSS) or St. Michael Catholic Secondary School (SMCSS)
