Ruth Abernethy

Ruth Abernethy is one of Canada’s premiere sculptors. Her bronze sculpture, Raising the Tent, outside the Festival Theatre was followed by those of Glenn Gould and Oscar Peterson to name a few. She has exhibited in Australia and Ireland, and was the only Canadian artist short-listed for the Beijing Olympic sculpture contest. Among her many honours she has received an honorary doctorate from Wilfrid Laurier and in 2025 became a Member of the Order of Canada.
