Maria Soulis

Mezzo-soprano Maria Soulis began her operatic career as a principal artist with the Regensburg Opera in Germany, and went on to perform in theatres throughout Germany, France, and the UK. In concert works from Bach to Mahler, her voice has been praised internationally by critics as “warm and powerful”, as well as “gorgeous, dusky toned” with a “ruby red timbre”.

 In Canada, Maria has performed with the Kingston Symphony, Windsor Symphony, Symphony Nova Scotia, Thirteen Strings, Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Chorus Niagara, Stratford Symphony, and the Elora Festival.

 An avid recitalist, Maria has an extensive song repertoire spanning six languages. As a chamber musician, Maria has joined forces with Stratford’s INNERchamber, performing works by Mahler, Ravel, and Greek-Canadian composer Christos Hatzis. With the Maria Soulis Trio, she performs with violinist Joyce Lai and guitarist/composer William Beauvais in a programme of Spanish, Catalan, and Greek songs.
